Boys’ Volleyball Sets Up For a Great Season

The 2019 Woodbridge High School Boys’ Volleyball team started their season in the beginning of April and has gone a long way since then. Although their record remains at 7-7, they have high hopes for the season.

This year’s volleyball team has three captains: Steven Skros, and George Wenson who have played for all four years of high school, and Joe Chung, who has played for three years. They have inspired the team to push through the season strong.

Joe Chung is a senior captain for the boys’ volleyball team and plays the position of setter/opposite.

“We have a lot of potential, and we try to have fun on the court as well as keeping seriousness and high energy and high morale to keep our heads up. We have a “brick wall” especially on the front. I think our blocks are one of our strengths as well as our serving.”

George Wenson is also a senior captain and plays the position of outside hitter.

“Never on a team with a better group of guys. We do our best to stick together no matter what. But the most important thing for us is that we have fun.”

Coach Jacovinich ha been the boys volleyball coach for three years and believes that the team has been improving throughout the season.

“The players have shown up everyday with a great attitude, energy and desire to get better at volleyball. The performance of our team has been up and down this fat but we have been improving each game after starting the season with a tough schedule.”

The Woodbridge Boys’ Volleyball team is looking forward to a be able to make the state tournament for the third consecutive year with what looks like a good season ahead of them.
