On This Day – November 19th (Kindle)

On this day, November the 19th, in the year of 2007, the Kindle, a Amazon owned electronic book, was released.

Originally costing $399, some doubted if it could sell with such a steep price, but the product would often sell out.

While not being the first “e-book” to be sold, Amazon was able to sell the device through good marketing, making it the first popular e-book.

The Kindle was the world’s first real taste of reading books and newspapers did salty outside of a computer, leading the way for smartphones and tablets (Britannica).
