(Japan Joins UN) On This Day – December 18th

On this day, December the 18th, in the year of 1956, the nation of Japan joined the United Nations, being the 80th member to do so.

Seeking to spare the world of seeing the horrors of wars such as the Second World War, they joined with the intent to promote world peace (Ministry of Foreighn Affairs of Japan).
