World Language Department Welcomes Ms. Collado

Soranlly Collado is a new teacher at Woodbridge High School. She is the latest addition to the World Language Department. She currently teaches Spanish 1R and Spanish 3C.

Barron Perspective: Where are you from?
Ms. Collado: I am from the Dominican Republic.

BP: When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?
SC: I wanted to be an airline pilot.

BP: Where did you attend school before college?
SC: Perth Amboy.

BP: What made you want to be a teacher and when did you realize this?
SC: While observing another teacher in a middle school for a class project when I was in college.

BP: What college did you attend? What was your major? What activities did you enjoy while there and why?
SC: Kean University- Bachelor’s of Spanish, NJCU- Masters of Arts in Teaching. Studying with friends because we were able to support each other.

BP: What is your previous teaching experience, if any?
SC: 7 years high school teaching, 4 working with autistic kids.

BP: What classes are you currently teaching and what will you be teaching next semester?
SC: Fall Spanish 1R and 3C (same for Spring).

BP: How were your first few days of the school year at Woodbridge High School? What do you like about WHS?
SC: Very smooth. I like how friendly and helpful everyone is around. 

BP: Are you involved in any extracurricular activities, if so, what and why?
SC: N/A

BP: How do you plan on making this a good school year?
SC: Staying present and focusing on the positive aspects of each situation in addition to building good relationships with students and staff.

BP: What are you looking forward to this school year and why?
SC: Getting acclimated to the school and participating in school events.

BP: What hobbies do you enjoy outside of school?
SC: Visiting new restaurants and trying new food.
