The Woodbridge Barrons Boy’s Bowling Team just finished a successful season posting a 19-5 record. The Barrons are the Central Jersey Group 3 state champions. On top of that, they were ranked fifth in the entire state
“We are proud of the season we had, but still upset we couldn’t get the full job done.” Said Senior James Fudge. The Barrons took the number two overall team in the state, Monville, to a winner-takes-all third game in the Group 3 State Championship match but came up just short of their state title hopes.
This season saw many of the Barrons’ bowlers improve their average by staggering numbers. Sophomore Ryan Montalvo had his average jump from 170 to 198 this season. His fellow sophomore Mike Gurovich had his average jump from 184 to 198. Senior James Fudge also had his average jump from 181 to 196.
Hear from the Team
Sophomore Mike Gurovich credits hard work and dedication to the Barrons’ success. “All over us put the work in over the offseason and it led to good results,” said Gurovich.
Fellow sophomore Ryan Montalvo had one of the Barrons’ biggest moments of the season. He rolled a 300 against Perth Amboy in a day where he shot a 746 series.
“It was definitely a highlight for me, I’m proud of all the hard work that my teammates and I have put in.” Montalvo said.
The Barrons can attribute their amazing season to the return of Coach Small. Having their long time coach back allowed the team to perform to their true potential.
Senior James Fudge wants to thank Barrons’ Bowling for three amazing years and wishes his teammates well.
“I’m proud of what we accomplished this season,” said Fudge, “and I hope the guys can build on it next year.”
The bowling team will continue to impress for years to come.
