Since May of last school year, the cafeteria has been undergoing a remodeling. It was claimed that these modifications would be finished before the next fall semester, but it is now October, and the kitchen has yet to be completed. It is unknown what has delayed the project, but it remains unfinished.
While the kitchen isn’t ready to serve food, students can still purchase lunch in the cafeteria. Students will still be served pizza, sandwiches, and all other available lunch options before the remodeling. The construction is being handled by Pomptonian, which provides the cafeteria with food to serve. Currently, the kitchen doors are closed and students receive lunch that is warmed up and served right in the cafeteria.
We reached out to Mr. Osborne, the school’s principal for comment. Unfortunately, he says, “The entire project is being handled by Pomptonian, the service provider. I have as much information as you do.”
Like the students, the administration does not know much about the project either. The kitchen will remain closed until the modifications are complete. We have yet to know when the project will be completed but hope it can be done swiftly. For now, students will have to continue getting lunch that’s not from the kitchen.
“I wish I had more,” Mr. Osborne added. We emailed Pomptonian, but they did not respond.
Despite the big change, the remodeling doesn’t seem to have greatly affected the student population. The cost of lunch and the menu have not changed, and students continue to enjoy sitting with their friends and having a meal. Students can still get the same lunch they enjoyed eating last school year. Nobody is sure when the cafeteria will reopen, but it will be the return of the place that provides food for the students of our school.
