During the second semester of the 2023-2024 school year, Woodbridge High School’s cafeteria was set to go under renovation. Staff and students were told that the kitchen was the main focus and it would be ready to go by the end of the summer for the next school year. But the second month of the 2024-2025 school year has arrived and yet renovations are still under way.
Because of the circumstances, the layout of the cafeteria had to be changed to still be able to serve students lunch. Two separate stands, one for hot lunch which usually changes every day based on the weekly schedule, and another for cold lunch which is always pizza. However since the layout has changed, the long line for lunch affects the students’ lunchtime.
“The layout of the cafeteria feels too crowded and it takes longer to get lunch,” said David Morales, a senior at WHS.
David and other students around the school heard that renovations might be completed by November. In another interview about the subject, Leah Shaw, also a senior at WHS, had a different perspective on the whole thing. Leah felt mad about the circumstances.
“It’s our final year, we shouldn’t have to deal with problems like taking a long time to get lunch every day,” she argued while also speaking for her senior-year classmates.
She agrees with David’s opinion about the overcrowding of the long line to get lunch. As complicated as the situation is, both students agreed with the idea of trying to find another solution to these issues. Especially since there isn’t a definite date for when renovations will be completed.
