Trunk or Treat is very popular during the Halloween season. It is an event where volunteers bring their car, open the trunk, decorate it, and hand out candy to trick-or-treaters in a parking lot. It’s very similar to trick or treating but more enclosed. Trunk or Treats provide a safer alternative for trick-or-treaters, giving parents a better state of mind surrounding the holiday.
On Wednesday, Oct. 30, Woodbridge High School held its annual Trunk or Treat. From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., school-sanctioned clubs set up their car or booths to pass out candy to kids who show up. The costumes were in full force, as many kids and adults dressed up for the occasion. It is always a fun time at the school, and patrons of the event enjoyed it once again!
There are many activities at Trunk or Treat such as a bean bag toss and face painting. There was nice scenery for students and attendees to enjoy and take pictures for personal enjoyment. Photographers from the yearbook and Barron Perspective were also there gathering photos.
We asked some attendees what their favorite part of the trunk or treat was and if they would come again. Marissa Sikora said her favorite was the SOS (Save Our Strays) booth. Chloe Baldowski enjoyed handing out candy to kids. Shenaya Mayadunna liked the Chinese Honor Society. Everyone spoken to said they had a good time and would come again.
The event isn’t just for Barrons students, as many people from the town and surrounding area attended as well. You don’t need to be a WHS student in order to have fun, which was evident in the actions of the attendees.
“I really liked seeing everyone’s costumes,” said one child who was dressed for the occasion. “I liked the candy.”
The clubs that came included the Art Club, APIC Club, Black Student Union Club, Hispanic Culture Club, SOS Club, Cheerleading, and Dance team. They made cute setups at their booths or cars, gave out candy, and had fun activities.
Overall, the trunk or treat was a huge success with many happy attendees and many clubs got more recognition as well.
