This school year the cold weather came in with a shock to WHS! Due to the erratic changes of the temperature, no one was expecting the cold to happen so late, nor sudden. With the changing weather each day, it is tough for the building to keep up. The classrooms sometimes seem hot or cold due to the ever-changing daily weather.

The Cold Has Arrived!

The cold has finally decided to make its move after the random day’s heat being the highest of 80 degrees in the Fall season! In such a short amount of time students are now changing clothing options to something warmer, but the issue with this is the air conditioner still being on for many classes during this cold. It can be very difficult for students to concentrate in class when the temperature of the rooms is uncomfortable. It sometimes makes people fall asleep. Jackets are not permitted, which makes things more frustrating, not everyone can bring or wear layers to school. 

After I’ve gathered  information from  a student at WHS, Ziann Grooms, she claims the cold causes her to lose focus in class. hoping the schools heat could be used to necessity.  

“The majority of my classes are freezing, jackets in class being banned doesn’t make it any easier for me.”

Can We Fix This?

According to some staff, the school has no access to controlling the air, nor the heat, making it hard to keep it from being too cold, or too hot in parts of the school. The only option is for students to wear layers. It’s too soon for the cold weather to be here anyway, we should come prepared.
