The college football season is coming to an end and we at the Barron Perspective believe many things are going to shape the way the rest of the season turns out. From championships to Rankings to who is out of the playoff pictures by the end of the season.
As the current favorite of the season we expect Oregon to become Big 10 champions. With this they hold onto the number 1 seed. They finish the season defeating Ohio State in the championship game. Oregon is currently expected by many to win the national championship.
Division winners
We believe that the division champions will be Oregon, Texas, Boise State, Clemson, and Arizona State. Which guarantees each one of these teams a final spot in the playoffs. This also gives 4 of those teams a first round bye which is Oregon, Texas, Boise State, and Clemson. Arizona State barely sneaks into the playoffs taking the 12 seed.
With the top 4 seeds determined Penn State, Notre Dame, and Miami are expected to take the 5,6, and 7 seeds. Ohio State drops after coming up short in the Big 10 championship. This drops them all the way to down the 8th seed in the playoffs and 6th in the national rankings. With Tennessee winning out they are expected to move to the 9th seed for playoffs. Thus move up to 7 in the rankings.
Coming down to the wire
Next we move to our 10 seed and this is where things got hard to predict but even with their recent loss to Ohio State we have Indiana holding onto a playoff spot. When many people expect them to fall far we view their loss as a loss to one of the top teams which shouldn’t move them outside the top 12.
Continuing with the hard decisions with wins over South Carolina and beating SMU in the ACC championship game. We have moved Clemson to 11 ranked team in the country and secured their playoff spot. Now we are down to one remaining spot which was a really difficult decision with expected loss from Texas Georgia’s resume has been tarnished. Fortunately we still believe their tough schedule wins will be enough to keep them just inside the top 12. Which gives them the last remaining playoff spot.
With our final decisions made we have left out many teams that were expected to make the playoffs like Alabama, Ole miss, SMU, BYU, South Carolina, and Tulane. The playoff schedule seems to show many intense matchups and an even more exciting National Championship game. Who do you expect to see hoisting the National Championship trophy this year.
