This year marks a new beginning for the Digital Art Club after the departure of their former president last year Andrew Jones. The club is now under a new president Cecilia Trangay who has big plans for the new year of the Digital Art Club. Andrew Jones founded the Digital Art Club as a hangout for students of WHS who have an interest in digital art giving them a space to make their creations in a free space using the software Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop provided by the school that most students interested in do not have the facilities to do at home.
Cecilia Trangay, however, has plans to make the club something more than a hangout for kids just looking to use the software while still keeping the club the same at its heart. She has spent the last few meetings introducing themes to the club for members to make art aligning with those themes giving students without a set direction when it comes to their art a certain challenge. Cecilia, Mr. Stadtmiller and I are also discussing possibilities of fundraisers, field trips, and making merch for students to showcase their pride for the club.
Cecilia, a good friend of Andrew, describes the club as, “Not anything official,” saying that it doesn’t have a real plan or motion to reach a goal. She, however, plans to make it an “Official club like the other clubs at WHS,” giving the club a pathway to follow and a purpose instead of staying as a hangout with no direction. Cecilia plans to hold things such as previously mentioned fundraisers, and merch sales as well as contests within and outside of the club to shine a light on the club bringing attention to us amongst WHS students.
