Many NFL teams have come into the season with high expectations but with high expectations come high pressure and when things don’t go right to start it can be very difficult to get back on track. All the eyes have been on the teams that just can’t seem to get it going even though all the pieces seem to be there.
A League of Disappointment
Some teams that have continued to disappoint their fans week by week are the Bengals, Falcons, Jaguars, Jets, Cowboys, and 49ers. Teams have begun to fail for many reasons, some say injuries or coaching while others say that it comes down to the offense or defense of teams not doing their jobs.
In specific the 49ers and Cowboys have caught the injury bug causing their top guys to go down which makes it easy to blame the lack of good play on. While the Jets and Jaguars expected big step ups in the quarterback position that just simply didn’t come which has constantly led them to failure. The Falcons believed to find their missing piece with the new quarterback in Kirk Cousins but they just seem to have a lack of locker room chemistry as they have looked like a super team some weeks and come out and gotten completely dominated other weeks.
The Most Disappointing
As we look at the most disappointing teams there is one team who we believe stands above every other team and the Cincinnati Bengals. They came into this season after losing Burrow due to injury last season and missing the playoffs with high expectations to make another deep run like they did in 2021.
They began the season with a rough loss to the New England Patriots and immediately drew attention to themselves as they have continued to struggle this season many would expect star quarterback and wide receiver duo Joe Burrow and Jamar Chase to not be performing well but it is the complete opposite.
Joe Burrow currently leads all QBs in yards and touchdowns with only six interceptions and many people believe if the Bengals were currently in a playoff spot he would be the MVP favorite. While WR Jamar Chase is on pace for the triple crown last won by Cooper Kupp who went onto win a Super Bowl that year.
The Bengals problems stem from their defense or lack of so. With the Bengals defense being ranked bottom five in league the Bengals continue to lose close games where their offense has put up multiple touchdowns.
What do you think these teams need to improve on this off-season? Can they bounce back or will they fail to perform once again.
