On Monday, January 6th, Coach Small’s achieved her 100th win for the girl’s bowling team. Coach Small had previously reached her 100th win for the boy’s bowling team back in December, 2024.
Coach Small’s passion for bowling began when she was five years old watching her grandfather and mother bowl in leagues.
“I pretty much grew up in a bowling alley,” Coach Small said.
Coach Small began coaching bowling at Colonia High School, which she did for three years. She then returned to her alma mater, Woodbridge High School, where she has been coaching for the past seven years.
When asked how she felt about her 100th win for the girl’s bowling team, she said “I don’t really think too much about it. I feel honored that people want to talk about it but in the end it’s not about me it’s about the players.”
The Barron Perspective asked Coach more about this.
BP: What other goals do you hope to reach as the bowling coach for the girl’s team?
CS: “We start with the first goal of the season being capturing the Division Championship, being that that has been checked off it’s now hoping to capture the GMC County Championship, a State Sectional Championship and a State Championship.”
BP: Can you describe the impact you feel you have left on the girl’s bowling team?
CS: “My hope is that each year people walk away with a little more confidence and a little more knowledge. Confidence that they can carry on in everyday life and knowledge of the sport.” Coach Small said.
The girls on the team surprised Coach Small with balloons, flowers, and cake to celebrate.
