Starting April 10, 2025, metal detectors were added in all high schools in the Woodbridge Township School District, including Colonia High School, John F Kennedy Memorial High School, and Woodbridge High School.
The beginning of metal detectors brought into school had caused a bit of chaos. It had caused most students to run extremely late to their first class of the day, due to very long lines. Since the implementation of the metal detectors, students are now entering buildings faster, cutting down on line times as the process works itself out. Students get their bags checked and have to walk through a metal detector every morning, as well as having their student IDS on them to check in to school.
In order to have students not run as late to class it has been suggested that students report to school around 7:15 to get a head start on the lines. There are express lanes for students with no bags to get through faster. A new rule has been implemented for students to only have clear water bottles, in order for the safety of students.
While having metal detectors may take some getting used to, they are only here to keep the students
of the Woodbridge Township School District even more safe.
