“Loud, rowdy, and prideful,” some words sophomore starting quarterback Dylan Stephen said when asked about the student section.
The Woodbridge High School student section has come out in full force this year. In the win against cross-town rival Colonia, the student section was beyond impressive.
Leading the way, senior Billy Mansfield, “The {student} section has been nothing short of crazy.”
One of Mansfield’s favorite memories of the student section was back in 2023 against Colonia.
“That game, I was just a sophomore, but it paved the way for us, and now we look back on it and realize we did better than that. ”
Showing school spirit is one of the easiest ways to support your fellow students. Often, other sports get overlooked. Not this year, Students have been coming out to many other sporting events
Junior goalkeeper Danny Guevara, “When the students are hype at our games, it brings a different level of energy.”
Junior ATH Lukas Valentin said, “Whenever the students are hype, it brings a different level of energy to the game,” when asked if the section’s energy changes the game.
Student sections are notorious for having chants throughout the game, some better than others.
Stephen’s favorites are “You can’t do that” or “Pack the buses.”
Athletic Director Joe Ward: “Something basic, but a ‘Let’s go Woodbridge’ chant, is my favorite.”
Ward also stated that “seeing students support other students is a really great sight.”
“When you have students and members of the town who want to see their school succeed, it just brings another atmosphere most schools don’t have,” Stephen said when talking about how it feels to see a packed bleacher at their games.
So far, the Barrons football team is undefeated at home. The next home football game is Oct 17. That game is senior night, and the theme is pink-out.
The student section for games in the stadium is the far left section of the home bleachers.
For inside sports games, it is the right side of the home bleachers.
Make sure to come out to the next few games and keep showing support for WHS’s fall sporting events!
