Michael Gurovich and Alexa Mercardo were announced as Homecoming King and Queen during halftime at the school’s football game. “How did it feel to hear your name announced as the Homecoming winner?”

Alexa: “Honestly, it felt extremely surreal and shocking because I didn’t hold any expectations other than just walking on the field. It felt nice to hear my name across the loudspeaker as I heard my friends cheering from across the field.
“What was running through your mind when you walked across the field?”

Alexa: Walking across the field created this anxious environment because there were so many people crowding the stadium and the walkway. The only thing going through my mind was making sure my dress, hair, and walk were perfected to avoid any embarrassment. My main concern was walking in heels because I didn’t want to mess up in front of a large crowd.

“Who was the first person you wanted to tell or hug?”

Michael: The first person I wanted to tell or hug would be my mom because it was her birthday, and that would also make my mom very happy.

“How did you celebrate after the announcement?”

Michael: I celebrated by taking pictures with my family and friends, then going out after with my friends for a party.
