Coach Jacovinich Makes His Debut
October 6, 2017
The Woodbridge High School Girls’ Volleyball Varsity team has started off the 2017 season under the new head leadership of Coach Jacovinich.
Jacovinich, the current head coach of the Varsity Boys’ and Girls’ Volleyball team, has taken on the position after two years of previously leading the Junior Varsity team. Having played for Woodbridge High School himself, coaching has always been a dream of his.
Coming up from working with the JV team, Coach Jacovonich has implemented new ideas into the season; he has incorporated some games during practice to improve teamwork and has brought forth a new lineup format. This, he hopes, will benefit the team in the long run.
Jacovinich enjoys seeing his girls, some of which he has coached for three years, develop not only on the court, but also off. Olivia Williams, senior varsity player, has respected Jacovinich’s coaching, as well as the life lessons that he offers the players. “He is trying his hardest for us, and it really shows,” she said.
While the start of the season has been challenging, it hasn’t discouraged the girls from working hard towards their goals. “We have worked hard to improve every day and the results are starting to appear,” Jacovinich says. Cassie Ronk, senior varsity captain, says that the team is “working hard toward a successful season.” She, along with Coach Jacovinich, is proud of the team’s determination.
Jacovinich is not only working for the present but also towards the future. He is looking forward to the rest of the season and for the GMC tournament. The team can’t wait to compete and show off their improvements made throughout the season.
