3D Printers Used to Make More 3D Printers

To keep up with the rapid progression of technology, WHS is using its 3D printers to print new 3D printers this year. The goal is for every classroom to have a 3D printer that can produce additional printers.
Mr. Hoyer, a robotics teacher, recently implemented a 3D printer in his class “It’s very efficient, and who doesn’t want more 3D printers? They’re so cool,” said Hoyer. “When I watch something print, I often fall into a trance-like state because of the sheer awesomeness of 3D printing.”
Mr. Lottmann, school principal, wants each student to have a personal 3D printer. “Students should have access to state of the art technology and 3D printers are the way to go.”
Mr. Nowicki, a WHS business teacher and highly esteemed vlogger, intends to use the 3D printer in his class to print out cameras. He hopes to give each student their own personal camera for use in the production of a school-wide vlog.
Until now, the school hadn’t used the 3D printers often and Mr. Modeszto, a WHS history teacher affectionately known as Modeszto the Besto, was in charge of dusting them off. “It’s good they’re being used because last year I had to dust them off everyday,” said Modeszto.
In the Physical Education/Health Department, the collective decision, devised by Coach Casey, is to use 3D printers to create participation medals. “They are for all the kids in gym classes who complete the walking fitness at the beginning of each class. Our school is in top shape, so we’ll need a lot of medals,” said Casey.
Mr. Kohn, the school band director, looks forward to printing new instruments. “For years we’ve had to deal with older equipment so it’ll be nice to whip up a couple trombones just by hitting print,” said Kohn.
Some teachers, like Mr. Sacco, an energetic history teacher who loves Ronald Reagan, don’t understand how 3D printers work and aren’t as impressed. “It all seems like witchcraft from Salem to me. I’ll stick to good old paper printing,” said Sacco.
Thus far, only the D wing has been fully equiped with 3D printers and the lunch rooms are the next priority. “Students are very excited for the revamped school lunch menu which will include 3D Printed Taco Tuesdays,” said Lottmann.
The future is now at WHS.
