WHS Fundraises for Nikki’s Fight
December 12, 2019
Woodbridge High School has been participating in a fundraiser for Nicole Rista-Fitzpatrick, Mr. Fitzpatrick’s daughter, for her medical condition. There was a Breakfast Fundraiser at the Elks in Woodbridge on Sunday, December 1st for the family.
Nicole is an alumnus from WHS who has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Rhabdomyosarcoma; it is a type of cancer that is rare and affects her body with tumors from her spine to her kidneys. These fundraisers have been a way for the community to come together.
The family has started a GoFundMe page called “Nikki’s Fight!” Their goal is to raise $50,000 for Nicole and her battle.
Ms. Gulics, the WHS Cheer coach, and her cheer team have a Paint with Santa fundraiser every year to “offset program cost for our competitions.” But this year they have decided to give all the money raised to Nicole and her family.
“100% of all proceeds will go directly to the family,” to Nicole’s benefit.
Ms. Gulics said, “We really want to make them feel loved and supported by their own WHS Barron family…this fundraiser is incredible [and] important because it [also] involves a dear colleague [and WHS alumnus]…we are honored to be a part of [a] worthy cause for a worthy family.”
The next fundraiser will be held on Saturday, December 14 in the WHS Cafe from 12:00 to 2:00 pm. The price of prepaid tickets are $25 per canvas, and it includes a canvas, cookies, and hot cocoa.
