On this day, October the 6th, in the year of 1993 (Britannica), Michael Jordan (arguably the best basketball player of all time) retired from the National Basketball Association (NBA) after winning three NBA Championships to pursue a career in baseball (Sporting News) and golf. Jordan would unretire and rejoin the Chicago Bulls in 1996 to win three more NBA Championships.
