On this day, October the 13th, in the year of 2010, the 2010 Chilean Mining Accident rescue, a rescue mission to save the lives of thirty three trapped miners and personnel, was completed with zero casualties.

On August 5th, 2010, a mine located in San Jose, Chile, collapsed, leaving thirty three workers (mainy miners) trapped more than 2,500 feet underground. 

During the rescue, the people trapped were able to get the message to the surface saying (translated from Spanish) “All 33 of us are all right in the shelter”.

After surviving on two days’ ration, the survivors were dropped down supplies to stay alive.

Eventually, on the aforementioned October 13th, 2010, the rescue mission was completed, saving all thirty three workers via a drilled escape route (Britannica).
