On This Day – October 15th (I Love Lucy)

On this day, October the 15th, in the year of 1951, the Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS) debuted the award winning television show I Love Lucy, a situational comedy featuring Lucille Ball as Lucy Ricardo and her real life husband, Desi Arnaz, as Ricky Ricardo. 

The show primarily was based around Lucy getting in typically wacky situations in an attempt to escape her role as a housewife.

During its original time on air between 1951 and 1957, the show won multiple Emmy Awards (Britannica).

After its original run, the show remains popular to modern day with a dedicated fanbase, young and old.
