Michael Thomas, Editor

On this day, December the 10th, in the year of 1768, the first edition of Encyclopædia Britannica, the longest published revised book in English, was published (Britannica).

Since 1786, the encyclopedia covers a vast range of topics from the Crimean War to I Love Lucy, though, Britannica has transitioned from book based to a mainly online based venture (Britannica).

To read more daily facts and tidbits, including the Crimean War and I Love Lucy, see the Barron Perspectives “On this Day Archives” webpage and such articles as “On This Day – October 4th 2021 (Crimean War)” and “On This Day – October 15th (I Love Lucy)”.
