On this day, December the 15th, in the year of 1791, the Bill of Rights, the first ten Amendments in the United States Constitution, were ratified.

Containing such Amendments that protect freedom of speech (First Amendment), the James Madison written amendments were the framework of American ideals written into law.

With three fourths of the then states signing on to it, the Bill of Rights were ratified, becoming law (History) (Library of Congress).
