(Endangered Species Act) On This Day – December 28th

Michael Thomas, Editor

On this day, December the 28th, in the year of 1973, the Endangered Species Act, an act of the United States Congress which protects endangered species, was signed into law.

To protect the aforementioned endangered species, the law grants multiple governmental agencies (like the Department of the Interior) the power to enforce the banning of the hunting, farming, and trade of species considered engaged, both plants and animals.

This duty falls upon the national government and its agencies, and also state level government and their agencies (EPA) (Congressional Research Service) (Britannica).
