(Texas Annexation) On This Day – December 29th

Michael Thomas, Editor

On this day, December the 29th, in the year of 1845, the United States annexed the then nation of the Republic of Texas into its control.

This move angered the Mexican government, as Texas and them had border disputes, but war didn’t immediately break out.

War wouldn’t officially break out until the following year, ending in 1848, resulting in America gaining Mexican land like California to Wyoming (United States of America Department of State) (Britannica) (PBS).
