(iPhone Announced) On This Day – January 9th
January 9, 2022
On this day, January the 9th, in the year of 2007, the co-founder of Apple, Steve Jobs, introduced the iPhone, the best selling line of smartphones in the United States, to the public.
After years of development, the iPhone took features of previous phones, like internet access, photo taking capacities, a touch screen, and more, being the first commercially successful smartphone. At the time, the device was seen as a gamble or even set up to fail by some experts.
Selling for the cheapest at $499 on its 4GB model, the original iPhone was a success, spurring a total of thirty-three phones and counting (Business Insider) (Apple) (Apple Insider).
