This yearly tradition known as senior night is always an emotional night for everyone. On October 13th the football players and cheerleaders were announced as they walked across the field with their family and the people who are most important to them. It is a fantastic night celebrating the efforts of each and every senior, and even the coaches get emotional watching their players conclude their senior seasons.
“It is definitely bittersweet because you know I would spend a lot of time with those guys for the past 4 years,” said head football coach Joe LaSala. “I watched them when they were in pop warner going all the way through, so you know I am very proud of them for getting to this point.”
The planning aspect of events like these can come with a lot of stress and worries from the coaches and teachers. With all of the extra planning, LaSala needed to make sure his team stayed focused throughout the week.
“We do the same thing every week so it just happened to be senior night so the practices and all of that kinda takes care of itself and we did get a lot of help outside from the cheerleaders, the parents they helped take care of the decorations and all that kind of stuff,” said Lasala.
The players and cheerleaders put a lot of work into senior night, and their efforts haven’t gone unnoticed. Everyone was happy with how the night turned out.
Senior cheerleader Allie Babula said, “Good, it went very well. Once a Barron, always a Barron!”
Dean Fiore, senior football player stated, “I enjoyed it and there were a lot of people out in the crowd cheering”
With all of the emotions that come with senior night, some are happy, sad and excited. We all wondered what the athletes were feeling and if It did affect their performance on the field after the ceremony.
“Surprisingly I wasn’t upset at all,” Said Dean Fiore. Allie Babula stated “It made me very emotional and I was upset.
Although senior night is a very big and emotional event the season still isn’t over and there are still more games to be played.
LaSala said “We still have a lot of football so we can’t really dwell on it right now but I am proud of all of the 13 guys that made it all the way through the program.”
