The winter pep rally was an electrifying kickoff to our much-anticipated winter break and holiday season. The vibrant event brought the entire school together to celebrate the hardworking winter sports teams and engage in some spirited fun, all while contributing to a worthy cause — fundraising for the WHS Junior class of 2025.
One of the standout highlights was the “Pie a Teacher” initiative, a creative and entertaining way to raise funds. The students had the opportunity to vote for specific teachers, and the chosen ones, Mr. Switek, Mrs. Romero, and Coach A., graciously took pies to the face in the name of supporting the Junior class. The laughter and good fellowship created a memorable experience, leaving everyone with smiles and a sense of community.
Mr.Switek, one of the teachers who had been pied said “I volunteered to potentially
be pied but I thought it was a long shot for me. I was surprised when I learned that I got the most votes, certainly.”
“I was ok with being pied and most of al
l, as a competitive person, I like the fact that I made it to the top three! Even though it could have been because I am hated enough to be in the top three,” said Coach A. “I was very proud to be a small part of the bigger picture here at Woodbridge High School! We are truly a big family and we go above and beyond for family!”
“I was actually so excited to get pied! I told all of my students to vote for me
so I was happy! It sounded like a fun and great way to show school spirit.” Said Ms. Romero.
The winter sports teams were rightfully recognized for their unwavering dedication and hard work. The event served as a stage to applaud their achievements and contributions to both the school and their respective teams.
In essence, the winter pep rally not only succeeded in raising funds for the Junior class but also elevated school spirit, recognized the accomplishments of our winter sports teams, and provided a joyous platform for everyone to bond before heading into the holiday season. It was an unforgettable celebration that showcased the vibrant and supportive community within our school.
“It seemed like the students enjoyed the pie event and the performances. We have a lot of talented students and athletes to be proud of,” said Ms. Romero.
