One of the most influential artists in Pop music culture, John Lennon was born on October 9th, 1940 in Liverpool, England. He was co-founder of famous band The Beatles, along with Paul McCartney and George Harrison. His love of music started early in his life, and after receiving a guitar from his mother at the age of 16, he played in The Quarrymen, a skiffle/rock group that would eventually become what is now known as The Beatles. He is known as an advocate for peace, activism and freedom of speech.
