Mr. Grant, an English teacher known for his humor and love of grammar, will be retiring at the conclusion of the school year. The Barron Perspective was fortunate to have the opportunity to catch up with Mr. Grant before he returns his final graded essays.
Barron Perspective: How long have you taught at Woodbridge High School?
Mr. Grant: 15 years.
BP: How are you going to spend your last month here?
MG: My last month is going to be spent grading essays.
BP: What do you see yourself doing after retiring?
MG: I’m going to be teaching some classes at college–at Middlesex County College–and playing golf.
BP: How would you describe your time at Woodbridge High School?
MG: It was very productive.
BP: What will you miss about Woodbridge High School?
MG: I will miss kids who want to learn.
BP: What is your favorite memory?
MG: A note that came from a graduate saying how much they appreciated learning how to write for college.
BP: Is there anything you would like to add?
MG: With the teachers we have here at WHS, it’s difficult to see how anyone outside of education could criticize us.
Principal Lottmann also had a few kind words for Mr. Grant on the eve of his retirement:
Think of all the students in this building and elsewhere who have a stronger understanding of the English language because of Mr. Grant’s dedication and expertise. It’s outstanding. Congratulations, Mr. Grant, to you and your family. We hope you enjoy the next chapter of your life. You will certainly be missed around the building.
The Barron Perspective would like to congratulate Mr. Grant on this milestone and wish him a happy and healthy retirement. Thank you, Mr. Grant, for your years of service, and for being a true Barron. Enjoy hitting the links!
