Those of you who know Woodbridge know that we like to go all out for our pep rallies. Students and teachers specifically remember that last year, one of the band members who graduated; Mateo Oloriz played the drums upside down and had a whole solo! The Barron Perspective then asked the junior class presidents what would be in store for this year’s pep rally, and we Barrons are in for a real treat.
Expectations
¨Expect a loud crowd, especially from the sports team and some teachers getting pied in the face, I know the dance team will also be doing a performance [and our comp cheer team,]¨ said Caroline Trilleras, vice president of the junior class. ¨And of course the steppers, we love the steppers.¨
Following that, winter sports such as swimming, basketball, hockey, comp cheer, etc will then be announced by their coaches. The coaches of these sports then recognize the captains and ask them what their goal for the team is for the season.
Fundraising
With all of these events happening, there must be some fundraising to be expected. One of the fundraisers happening is pieing a teacher in the face. You must pay 1$ to pick a teacher to get pied. Once the votes are tallied, the junior class officers then get to pick who they want to pie in the face on the day of the pep rally.
Some nominees that are on the list are teachers Mr. Jago, Mr.Rosa, Ms. Brain, Coach A, and Mr. T. As the voting shortly comes to a close, students are scrambling up their dollars to bid for their favorite teacher who deserves a little sweet treat for the holidays.
For some people, pep rally day is just a regular shortened day of school. However not for Mr. Kelly Terrell the drama teacher of WHS. He feels that pep rallies are very welcoming and homelike.
¨There’s something about being in a gym for a pep rally that seems like it’s an old-school movie,¨ said Mr. T. ¨I like all of it, it is also always fun when you have to go clean whip cream from a teacher’s face after everything.¨
This year, our annual Winter Pep Rally will commence on December 20th, so come ready and excited to experience some fun!
