The Barron Perspective recently sat down with Mr. Chittum, the newest Financial Literacy teacher at Woodbridge High School, to ask some questions about his first year as a Barron.
Barron Perspective: What college did you attend?
Mr. Chittum: Monmouth University.
BP: Is teaching what you originally went to college for?
MC: No, I created two small businesses prior to teaching and I graduated with my bachelors in
business marketing with a minor in music industry. I then went back to school to get my
teaching certification.
BP: When did you decide to become a teacher?
MC: 2013.
BP: What made you want to become a teacher?
MC: I became a teacher because I want to take students’ interests and apply them into real world scenarios which they can profit from. I believe with my business experience I can truly
help students get ahead in life.
BP: Is this your first year teaching? If not, where did you teach previously?
MC: Previously, I taught at Edison High School and, previous to that, I was a substitute teacher
at Ocean Township High School.
BP: What are you most looking forward to about your first year at WHS?
MC: Getting to know all the students.
BP: Are you coaching any sports or advising any clubs?
MC: Not at the moment, but definitely looking to get involved.
BP: What was your favorite class in high school?
MC: Entrepreneurship.
