Ms. Perez is no stranger to the halls of Woodbridge High School, and she transferred back to WHS at the start of this school year. The Barron Perspective was pleased to catch up with the Spanish teacher and welcome her back to being a Barron.
Barron Perspective: What college(s) did you attend? Is teaching what you originally went to
college for?
Ms. Perez: Douglass College [and] Rutgers University. Yes, [teaching is what I originally went
to college for].
BP: Is this your first year teaching? If not, where did you teach previously?
MP: I’m a veteran teacher. I have spent the last 17 years in Woodbridge Township. I started at
Woodbridge High School, was shared with JFK HS for a few years and spent the last 7 years at JFK full time. I am thrilled to be a full time Barron again.
BP: What made you want to become a teacher? When did you decide to become a teacher?
MP: I always wanted to be a teacher as a child. I would say that my 4th and 5th grade teachers
instilled the love of teaching in me.
BP: What was your favorite class in high school?
MP: Algebra 1; Mrs. Norman was a fantastic teacher. I used to peer tutor the jocks in the class
before peer tutoring was a thing.
BP: Do you have any hobbies?
MP: I enjoy traveling and pleasure reading.
BP: Do you have any pet peeves?
MP: I’m sure that at my age I have several.
BP: Where would you most like to travel to in the world?
MP: Australia.
BP: What is your favorite movie?
MP: Beaches.
BP: What has been your favorite part of WHS thus far?
MP: Being reunited with my WHS family.
BP: Is there anything else you would like to add?
MP: I look forward to a great first year back.
