The Barron Perspective sat down with Mr. Anthony Hein, one of Woodbridge High School’s new business teachers, to get to know him better.
Barron Perspective: What subjects and/or classes do you teach?
Mr. Hein: Business; currently, Financial Literacy.
BP: Are you involved in any sports or activities at the high school? If so, which one(s)?
MH: Not at the moment, but I coach youth baseball and video/announce Pop Warner Football.
BP: What college(s) did you attend?
MH: The University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and I graduated with a BA in Economics from Rutgers, New Brunswick.
BP: What is your favorite food?
MH: Dessert.
BP: Do you have any pet peeves, and what are they?
MH: Ignorance.
BP: What are your favorite hobbies?
MH: Following the financial markets.
BP: What is your ideal place to travel?
MH: Anywhere you can make memories with family and friends.
BP: What is your favorite thing about teaching so far, and has that changed since you began teaching in WHS?
MH: Trying to make the students’ experience better, and working with high school students allows me to have a more potential impact.
BP: What inspired you to become a teacher?
MH: My wife, and a priest who asked me what my purpose in life was.
BP: When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
MH: A doctor.
BP: Is there anything else you’d like to add?
MH: I’m [an] alternate route [teacher]. I was a stock broker and banker before I became a teacher in 2000.
