A look into what we can expect from Woodbridge Township hockey this season.

Woodbridge Township hockey is building off one of the best years in the team’s history with losses of big name seniors. Some people may wonder if this team still has what it needs to lead the township to its first ever state championship and solidify their names into New Jersey hockey history.

“The goal is to win the state championship” said by head coach Rotella

After a state championship visit in this previous season and many returning stars, Woodbridge township hockey looks to be headed for another incredible season and hopes of coming home with a state championship ring on their hand. Woodbridge was led in points last season by Junior Ryan Lukko and he has returned for his senior season with the team and all eyes are on how Lukko can improve on his previous 100 point season.

The Future

Other players you can keep in mind when showing up to Woodbridge’s games are Chris Walusz senior captain, and star goaltender Hunter Galgani who put up an incredible stat line in last year’s state championship.

When coach Rotella was asked on how he expected to fill the roles of seniors that left he responded

“ We expect for the juniors to step up into bigger roles to fill the shoes of seniors.”

Showing that he believes that they can fill the spots and become just as good of a team as they were last year.

Woodbridge led off the season with a dominant 9-0 win over East Brunswick showing they haven’t lost stride from last season. They were reminded by coaches to stay hungry throughout the season as there will be better teams that come their way. The scoring was led by Ryan Lukko with five goals and two assists and two shorthanded goals.

We wish the team luck as we continue to follow the team throughout the season and don’t forget to show your support for the team as all home games are held at Woodbridge Community Center or the Club at Woodbridge.
