Music can be listened to and created anywhere in the world. It has become a universal language and linker between all people. There is not one specific genre of music that everyone listens too. Although, Christmas music has made that exception. Hence, Christmas music has created an irreversible impact on the world of music and society.

Christmas music has become a staple part of traditions and in people’s culture. Christmas music has been prevalent throughout history, starting in the 1400’s in Europe. This type of music uses calming, enjoyable, and exciting rhythms to captivate people. Christmas music has been able to fill people with happiness and bring enthusiasm for the well-loved holiday.

There are over a million different Christmas songs released, but only a few remain a hit to the public. The infamous “Jingle Bells”, has been a worldwide Christmas carol listened to by millions. “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas”, “Last Christmas”, and “White Christmas” are old-time favorites among the public. But three specific artists are most played and famous during the Christmas season: Mariah Carey, Frank Sinatra, and Michael Bublé. These specific singers have created worldwide Christmas hits, that have broken records, like Mariah Carey’s, “All I Want For Christmas is You”, which sold 16 million copies worldwide.

As a result, we wanted to find out which Christmas song is a staple among Woodbridge High School students and teachers. We interviewed 14 students and 2 teachers in hopes of finding out the best Christmas song. We asked each participant “What is your favorite Christmas song?”.  Many of the students and teachers gave different responses to their favorite Christmas song, but one song was named the most. Mariah Carey’s, “All I Want For Christmas is You”, was voted to be the best Christmas song of all time, with “White Christmas” coming in second.

Mariah Carey’s global hit, “All I Want For Christmas Is You”, was no surprise when chosen to be the best Christmas song. It has been said by many top critics that it’s “the best Christmas song of all time.”. Some even named Mariah the “Queen of Christmas”. Although the song was released in 1994, it still remains in the Billboard Top 100, dominating the charts. “All I Want For Christmas is You” has impacted the music world in so many ways, leaving a permanent mark on the industry and the Christmas Season.

Music plays an important role in Christmas for everyone. Christmas music creates excitement and joy while waiting for the special day to come. Without Christmas music our lives be empty, lacking melody, harmony, and spirit.
