The Woodbridge wrestling team has started the season 4-3 with a GMC record of 3-2. The team took a trip to Elizabeth High School where they not only competed in multiple tournaments but won three.

We are going to focus on the team’s three winners in the Elizabeth tournament. The three wrestlers are Tyler Boelhower, Leonidas Morales, and Lukas Valentin. They all left with a tournament championship last weekend.

They each won their respective weight divisions, Tyler at 165, Lukas at 150, and Leo at 126. Some may wonder how they came away with all three titles.

So we decided to look to coach Monaco who “always tells his wrestlers to give all that they have and never get outworked”

Those words have been embedded into every wrestler’s head and it shows when they hit the mat. All three wrestlers also would say a coach like this would motivate them to become better and improve upon themselves and it has been working for them and the team.

The team also has a very strong bond between one another as they made a team decision to all dye their hair blonde and many see this as a way to show that they are bonded together which can help when not only your teammates but also your friends are cheering you on.

The team expects to have many high-level state competitors this season and would want to keep improving themselves to boost their chances of placing or even possibly winning the state championship.

All of the wrestlers we talked to about wrestling would all agree that wrestling is very difficult but it can give you many life skills along the way and that is another reason why many think this wrestling team can succeed.

We at the Barron Perspective expect to see you at some of the upcoming matches to support the Barron’s wrestling team
