This year’s Woodbridge High School Boys varsity volleyball team could be generational.
With the arrival of a potential new star player and senior Bradley Henriquez, along with the rapid improvement from players all around the roster, The Barons have a better shot to win the GMC title than ever, but the question remains: What kind of lineup can give them the best chances?
Star player Mohammad Abusharia sharing his opinion on a possible upcoming lineup, starting with himself on the outside in an all-around role to avoid being subbed out.
He said Eric Campeino and Dylan Sabb would serve as middle blockers, helping lead the team’s defense at the net.
At setter, Valentine Guzman in the front row, with Johnny Murillo rotating in for him in the back row.
On the right side position would be our new transfer from Perth Amboy Bradley Henriquez who shines in offensive capabilities.
Mohommad states “He can really play anywhere, but he’s a little more skilled at the opposite.”
Abusharia hands the libero position to former Sixpack 15-1 player Danny Guevara.
Mohommad adds he would have outside 2 sub outs for Nathan or Paul, two players excelling in defense.
He says, “For outside 2, it would probably be Ray if he wasn’t injured.” Mohammad says we have two other outsides as well that are both seniors being Jacob Quimbaya and Luis Redrovan.
Setter and Nucleus of the team Johnny Murillo shared a similar vision as Mohhomad.
He agreed with keeping Sabb and Eric in the middle, with Abusharia in an all-around role, and Guevara playing libero.
Murillo supports giving Bradley a core role, but placed him at outside hitter instead.
As for the right side, he suggested either Quimbaya or a rising player, Taraji.
In the end, these possible lineups aren’t exclusively about positions on the court, but finding the right balance of chemistry along with trust, skill, and execution to bring out the best of the team, and give us a winning shot at the GMC title.
