Many players say that they’ve been following the WBC and enjoying the competition. “I’ve been watching every game I can,” Xavier Diaz said. “It’s way more intense than regular MLB game. Diaz also wants to share his support to one specific team. “I’ve been rooting for the Dominican Republic because that is where my family if from.”

Strong performances from professional athletes have also left a strong impression. “The player that impressed me the most was Juan Soto because he can hit that ball at such a high level,” Xavier stated. He also explained how Soto has impacted his high school baseball career. “I try to copy his approach at the plate and how calm Soto stays under pressure.”

Diaz also remembered moments that made the global tournament worth watching. “My favorite moment was when the Dominican Republic beat Venezulea, it showed what the WBC is all about.” The overall intensity of the tournament can be way crazier that high school baseball. Especially since it is a global tournament and the professionals are playing for more than just a trophy but the pride they have for their country.
