Have you ever wanted to watch a historical musical with sensational singing and a plot that breaks the fourth wall? Your next choice could be Pippin: The Musical. Woodbridge High School presented a musical production from March 19 to March 22, 2026. The story is set in the Holy Roman Empire with the main character named Pippin, wanting to have a life with meaning. He goes through a series of adventures and exploits from fighting in the war against Visigoths to finding the love of his life and adopting that life as his new purpose. The students in the drama club have worked extremely hard in producing this musical for the past 4 months and even boasting about the musical to others or attending yourself would help tremendously.
First Impressions Matter
I saw Pippin for the first time myself on Friday, March 20. I hadn’t read the plot of the musical before so it was a mind blowing experience to witness everything without spoilers. I have no complaints as the productions from the drama club just keep improving. Pippin now has become one of my favorite musicals, second to the Sister Act that was another production that Woodbridge High School did in the past year. The props were done with quality care and I couldn’t have asked for a much better casting than the casting that was chosen. To me, Pippin was a musical that is one of a kind and something that will stick with me because of the incredible songs and jokes that were sneaked well in the play.
Sofia Monfredo: Showing the Charisma of the Leading Player
To give others who haven’t seen this musical before a more in depth perspective, I will be interviewing the cast who have dedicated themselves to giving everyone the best performance possible. Starting off with one of the main leads in the play, Sofia Monfredo, a junior in Woodbridge High School who plays the role of the leading player. She quotes that, “She has a very charming and seductive stage presence,” and she was very glad to be able to show that side of herself through the role she played onstage. She was able to build strong connections while coming together with others to make this musical happen and says, “I got work with my best friends and we were all just close and connected when it came to dancing, singing and having fun.” Sofia encourages others to come see the musicals that the drama club produces since, “The entire cast put so much work and hours of dedication and sacrifice to make this entire thing possible.”
Lillian Regan: Passion of the Ensemble
Moving onto Lillian Regan, a sophomore at Woodbridge High School who played the role of ensemble. She states that Pippin was an amazing show to work because of the highly talented people she was constantly surrounded with that just made it an amazing experience in general. Lillian says that, “It’s different from other musicals because you get to witness a show inside of a show and it gives you the sense of breaking the fourth wall. Along with how Pippin is searching for a purpose in his life to find something extraordinary but at the end of the show, he realizes that living an ordinary life is the way to go and now I truly think that’s the way to go.” The Pippin Musical highlights the collaboration and the inner works of the cast that often gets overlooked. Giving it a chance by watching and supporting this project that many students have dedicated themselves to would support the drama club community.
