Spring Success
As the spring sports season continues at Woodbridge High School, teams are already off to strong starts and showing early potential. Across different programs, athletes are building chemistry, setting goals, and gaining momentum as the season moves forward.
“The season has started out really good and we are 4-1,” said golf team senior Jack Bromm.“Our win against Colonia stands out the most because the whole team played really well.”
While on-course talent has helped, Bromm also emphasized the team’s mindset as a big reason for their success.
“We are actually pretty good and expect to make a good run for the division champ,” said Bromm.

Many athletes came into the season focused on personal improvement. Senior softball captain Melanie Alejandro set clear goals for herself early on.
“My goal was to have a good batting average and perform well on defense,” said Alejandro. “So far I’m batting over .300 and having a good start in center field.”
Like the golf team, the softball team has a lot of on-field talent, but attributes a lot of their success to how close the team has become.
“I would describe our team as just full of best friends and a very supportive environment where we are always picking each other up,” said Alejandro.
That support plays a big role in staying motivated throughout the season. Alejandro explained that her coach has helped keep things in perspective.
“He has reminded me to have fun, play free, and remember it’s just a game,” said Alejandro.
Boys Volleyball
For senior Dylan Sabb on the boys volleyball team, team energy has been key.
“I feel like feeding off each other’s energy helps us all stay motivated for practices and games,” said Sabb. “When one of us gets a crazy block or has a great serve, we all get hyped and carry that energy through the rest of the game.”
Sabb also pointed out one of the team’s biggest highlights so far.
“One moment I won’t forget about this season so far would be winning 2nd in the Ferris High School tournament as it was the first indicator that this team could actually make a run in the postseason this year,” Saab said.
Even with strong starts, teams have faced some challenges. Sabb noted that injuries have impacted the team early on, but they are continuing to adjust and improve. He added that moving forward, the team is focused on getting the opportunity to win the division, while others are focused on continuing to improve and make a postseason run.
As the season continues, WHS athletes are not only seeing success but also building strong team connections and pushing each other to improve. With the energy and goals they’ve set, many teams are on track for a successful spring season.
