Mr. Picciano, biology teacher, introducing Frankfurt the prog to Woodbridge High School on March 15 shortly after his discovery. The prog’s popularity throughout the school resulted in a new mascot and apparel.

Something creepy was hopping around Woodbridge High School on Wednesday, March 14th when Mr. Picciano’s block 2 Biology class accidentally created a prog, half pig-half frog. The dissected frogs and fetal pigs were accidentally stored in the same drawer, but so far, there has not been an accurate scientific reason as to how the prog was produced. “It must have happened over night,” Mr. Picciano said The next morning, Mr. Picciano heard a faint oink coming from the storage cabinet. “It was the cutest thing I’ve ever seen,” Mr. Picciano said.

The biology teacher carefully picked up the prog from the cabinet with rubber gloves and went to place it in an empty plastic box. However, the prog escaped from his arms and rapidly hopped throughout Woodbridge High School, frightening students on their way to homeroom. “Mr. Picciano’s room is right near my locker and I saw it hopping around. It was the most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen,”  freshman, John Smith said. “I’ve never seen anything like it before,” sophomore, Meagan Raimondo said, “I heard pupils dilate when you see someone you’re in love with, and mine dilated. It was cuter than puppies.”

Students had the next two days off due to the Animal Control investigating the situation. The prog was soon reported to be “non-hazardous and child friendly” by the Animal Control Service. For this reason, the prog was put into adoption and was immediately adopted by Mr. Picciano, who gave him the name Frankfurt.

“When I saw Frankfurt in that storage cabinet, I felt a connection. Something was telling me that I needed to keep him.” The new owner, Mr. Picciano said, “He also really enjoys snacking on grapefruits.”

The students of Woodbridge High School fell in love with the images of Frankfurt uploaded on the school website. Two weeks after his discovery, Frankfurt replaced the school mascot, the Barron.

“I think the new name ‘Woodbridge Progs’ has a nice ring to it. We are definitely keeping it,” said the principal, Mr. Lottmann. “ ‘Woodbridge Progs’ on all the jerseys. The Barron is long gone.” said sports director, Mr. Ward, “I’m sure our athletes will enjoy the name change. Go Progs!”. Woodbridge High School will be expecting the new apparel and sports jerseys in the next school year. Until then, pre-orders are taking place in the school store. All apparel should arrive around September of 2018.
