Barrons Football “Tackles” Competition

The Woodbridge Barrons football team is coming off a hot streak winning two of their last three games. Their next game is the last regular season game against Sayreville at home.

Alumni and all-time school leaders in receptions, Coach Nyers, the wide receivers coach and special teams coordinator, gave us updates on the season.

Nyers, in his 8th year coaching football along with being a basketball, said he loves building relationships with players, saying, “coaches win players, players win the game” and likes seeing the development from freshman to senior year”.

“Beating Summit was the high point of the season. A full four quarter game, big plays on offense and defense, 2ith a clutch 2 pt conversion stop…” he added.

Coach said he preached the message of “staying on course and trusting the process.”

Star sophomore Bryan Anderson said his favorite thing about playing football is “the game days and playing under the lights on friday.”

Bryan said the team overcame adversity by “staying on course and staying together as a team” and is “proud of the young guys getting their first starts of the season and stepping up”

Anderson also added, “he’s excited to take the step up next year.”
