We all know about the Junior Cotillion, one of the main events of every school year. Each year, students dress their best, schedule hair appointments, book limos and part buses, and dance the night away. While the night is always a good time, the price of the dance is always a topic of conversation. After speaking with some students, the question remains, how much is too much?
Nearly half of the people surveyed, regardless of school or country, believe that attending a dance is worth the money and the experience.
The View of People
Of the five Woodbridge High students interviewed, three plan to attend the dance. However, two students prefer not to go, citing financial concerns, a lack of transportation, limited free time, and the need for suitable attire. We even saw the lines of the tickets being sold, getting smaller and smaller, but the initial number of people wasn’t even more than 30. Most juniors aren’t expected to attend, but almost half of them aren’t going directly, as has been mentioned.
We were even informed that the papers being signed for guests have piled up, and even shown how the people who have said that the papers are way worse than the joy of going to the dance.
“The paperwork of bringing a guest pile of loads,” said a junior who was a type of person who loved parties but hated paperwork. After all the work that people are putting in with this dance, only 100 people have been seen buying the tickets during A lunch. We even interviewed the two teachers who have been selling the tickets, and they had said that the paperwork and the number of people coming to buy the tickets weren’t as much as expected.
Worth the Risk?
If you ever have seen how many people have signed up to a dance and it has been successful? It was extremely questionable why so many people were not going to a dance everyone was so hyped about when we first heard the announcement. Having seen the people that have bought the tickets first hand, only to see the amount of people that have bought the tickets. Should we look into whether or not this dance is worth the money or the paperwork being filled out? Was it worth the money people were paying for four hours at a hotel venue.
The rides of the paradise
Now even if most people are in possession of the money they weren’t in the position to have the money to get a ride, or have the family that can drive them to the hotel and/or back to their home. As much as their friends have rides most people prefer to not ask them for rides. People prefer to not use the help they have to get there.
The junior cotillion is an expensive night for all involved, but students that attend each year rave about the fun they had. While the price is steep, it’s a small price to pay for a lifetime memory with friends!
