Woodbridge Students Rack up Fall Honors in Greater Middlesex Conference

13 Woodbridge High School students were recognized with awards from the Greater Middlesex Conference for their athletic efforts during the 2015 fall sports season.

The players appreciate the recognition and, in true Barron spirit, were humbled by the praise. Junior Jordan Vasquez, a member of the girls’ varsity soccer team, said, “I am extremely honored to receive this award, but I have to give credit to my teammates. If it wasn’t for them getting me the ball in places I could score from, I wouldn’t have been as successful as I was this past season.”

Sophomore Andrew Fuentes, recognized for boys’ varsity soccer, echoed a similar sentiment. “I’m glad the hard work payed off,” he said. “Hopefully there is more to come.”

Girls’ varsity volleyball player Sachi Rajadnya, a junior, is already looking towards the future after being named an All White Division and All Conference player. “To share such a passion and be grouped with such talented student-athletes is like saying that all the hard work that we put in was worthwhile and that we need to push even harder,” Rajadnya said.

Woodbridge High School’s Athletic Director, Mr. Ward, is proud of all the student-athletes, and acknowledged the work of all the players and coaches. “It puts Woodbridge High School in a great light, whether it’s broadcast on the morning announcements, or written in the newspaper. It’s always great to see the Woodbridge name out there for positive reasons.

“I’m just happy for them and for their coach[es]. I know how hard they worked and how hard their coaches worked with them, and it makes them feel fulfilled for everything they put into it.”
