With prom right around the corner, it is officially promposal season.

A promposal is a passive act in which a boy makes an exaggerated effort to ask a girl to prom, usually through a grand, public gesture with a sign that simply states, “Prom?”, as if it were a question.

Dominic Schnee, senior, asked the popular Betty the Cockroach to prom and got humiliated in front of his Journalism I class.

“I was completely blindsided. I pictured this event differently in my head. I am so embarrassed and humiliated,” Schnee said with a tear running down his cheek. “I thought me and her would slay all the other boys and girls there.”

The journalism class was in great shock when Betty scurried away.

“Dominic seems like a nice boy,” Betty said. “I’m just into the spider boys. I have nothing against him, he just isn’t my type.”

Betty the Cockroach will be attending senior prom with journalism teacher Mr. O’Halloran’s Spider-Man lunch box.

Unfortunately for Dominic, he has yet to find a prom date and is running out of time.
