College Mondays is a new program in which seniors work on college applications and explore career options with the assistance of guidance counselors Ms. Ferrara and Ms. Rich.

According to Ms. Ferrara, they have an open-door policy for seniors and they do not need a pass to attend. These meetings are held in room D-11 it is a room equipped with many computers which are helpful. According to Ms. Ferrara it is nice. A quiet space for students to work on their college applications and or search of their careers.

Ms. Ferrara said that she will continue to do College Mondays for the rest of the fall semester. Most likely will switch to more in-depth Career exploration for those who are considering another career path.

Ms. Rich said that “College Mondays are helpful because it is a set time, that does not interfere with any student’s class, where students can have help filling out applications and scholarships.” Ms. Rich then again explains that the amount of people that attend depends on the exact day meaning that they could have about 1-10 or more students.

A student, Ray Gregorio, states that they went to these meetings for help with their college applications. Gregorio attended only one time but says that “yea my visit helped a lot” and does recommend going if in need of support.

They will return if they ever need assistance in the future.

Ray Gregorio then additionally explained that the experience was inviting and was similar to a typical meeting with a guidance counselor. They again said that they just had a one-on-one talk. Gregorio got help filling out their documents because they did not know how to send or fill those documents out.

College Mondays are held in room D-11 during all the lunches. “All are welcome”.
